Film Proposal: Down to the Dead End
Logline: A broken family on the run find themselves trapped on a road by a deadly royal-like cult.
Genre: Horror/thriller

Feature Synopsis:
“Down to the Dead End” is a Horror/Thriller film that takes place on a singular road over the course of one night. A family traverse the United States on what seems to be a “never ending” roadtrip when they find themselves face to face with a mysterious roadblock. With the family stuck at a standstill in the middle of nowhere, they are confronted by an ominous gang named “The strands” who are on a mission to expand what they believe is a connection between their world and another through sacrifice. What ensues is a night long stand-off of cascading events that forces the family to reinterpret their definition of “home.”
Comparative Films: “Down to the Dead End” can be compared to the following successful films:
The Hills Have Eyes (1977)- Like the iconic 1977 American horror feature, “Down to the Dead End” explores a society with a predisposition to notion of “the perfect home”, with an emphasis on character-driven storytelling and a richly detailed universe.
Evil Dead (1981)- It shares in scale of the horrifying events that find our main characters along with an ominous larger implication of what those events mean.
Alien (1979) - While the film is set along an open road on earth, the story shares an emphasis on claustrophobia and cosmic horror- with the seemingly dull and dark “middle of nowhere” actually fostering a force beyond human comprehension

Logline: When an algorithm mistakingly forces a couple together, Roxi & Colby take the opportunity to face their expectations of love.

Feature Synopsis:
“FateDate” is a Comedy/Romance film that takes place in a world where society has relinquished all complex social and behavioral interactions in the name of “the universe” - meaning people have grown to be accepting and avoidant. With that, our main characters- Roxi and Colby -find themselves testing the limits of what they perceive to be love, comfortability, and truth when they are accidentally paired and pressured to be together.
Comparative Films: “FateDate” can be compared to the following successful films:
Scott Pilgrim VS The World (2010) - “FateDate” shares a similar sensibility in comedy in wit. Like the 2010 film and other projects in Wrights portfolio, “FateDate” over exaggerates the circumstances of the world to emphasize its comedic moments and character development.
Palm Springs (2020) - it shares in the simplicity of the story and situation, while remaining as a series of engaging cascading events that feel almost otherworldly.
Crazy Stupid Love (2011) - “FateDate” explores modern sensibilities when it comes to notions of dating and relationships. Like “Crazy, Stupid, Love” - FateDate wants to discuss the pillars of “The pursuit of love”

Logline: Following the loss of his child, a once passionate surfer must confront a daunting horror that manifests itself as the sea.
Genre: Horror/Mystery

Target Audience: Adults age 18 - 45
Feature Synopsis: Set along a mysterious beach, a couple- Ben and Andrea -mourn the loss of their child and begin closing up shop on a surfing school that has fallen to disarray. With their marriage in collapse ,and school abandoned, Ben decides to ride the waves one last time; However, he is met with a disturbing surprise when his living child is found floating amongst the raging sea. With their child back in their arms, Ben and Andrea must confront their beliefs on parenthood, mourning, and the inexplicable cosmic horror that lies within the sea.
Comparative Films: “In Waves” can be compared to the following successful films:
It Follows (2014) - “In Waves” explores a mysterious threat similar to that of 2014’s “It Follows” where our main characters must confront what feels like an omnipresent, yet inexplicable, force who’s intentions are unclear.
The Bababdook (2014) - it shares the exploration of the mourning and healing process, with characters who question their ability to be parents and confront the trials of grief and acceptance.
Hereditary (2018) - similar to Ari Aster’s 2018 film, “In Waves” explores the complex and dynamic relationship of a family forced into extreme pressure as escalating events test their bond.
